  • If you are employed by one of our 24 CMHC’s, you do not need to apply for a individual membership, as you are already a member as an employee.

Membership Categories: 
There shall be 6 categories of membership of the Council- Community Mental Health Center, Affiliate Membership, Associate Membership, Public Sector Member (Government agencies & Health Departments), Education Support (Universities, Research & Training-based Centers, Education Support) and Student/Alumni Membership.

  1. Community Mental Health Center
    Those corporations deemed eligible for membership in the Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers, Inc. (Indiana Council) shall be limited to those nonprofit corporations who meet the criteria for regular certification as a community mental health center (as defined in 440 IAC 4.1 et. seq.) and have been issued a regular certification as a community mental health center by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction. Community Mental Health Center chief executive officer or president is eligible for a position on the board of directors. An officer, director, or employee of a Community Mental Health Center is eligible for a position on the Board committees.  
  2. Affiliate Membership
    Any non-profit organization that advocates for and conducts business to improve access to mental health and substance use services for Indiana residents is not a community mental health center and does not provide mental health and substance use services is eligible to become an Affiliate Member. An officer, director, or employee of an Affiliate Member organization is qualified by invitation from the Chair for appointment to a Board committee. 
  3. Associate Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Provider Membership
    Associate Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Membership is available to any non-profit or tax-exempt organization committed to the purposes of the council and offering mental health and/or substance use disorder services to indigent persons on a sliding fee or reduced fee scale. An officer, director or employee of an Associate Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Provider Member organization is eligible for a position on board committees.   
  4. Public Sector Member (Government Agencies & Health Departments) 
    Public Sector Government Agencies are any state or local department, organization, or commission established to carry out specific public functions. Government Agencies can include but are not limited to county commissions and courts. Public Sector Health Departments, local or state, are responsible for improving the health of Hoosiers and can include but are not limited to hospitals. 
  5. Education Support (Universities, Research & Training-based Centers, Education Support) 
    Universities in Indiana are post-secondary educational institutions that grant academic degrees and offer programs in multiple academic disciplines. Research & Training-based Centers can be located within an academic institution or outside of.  Education Support includes organizations that provide resources, services, and assistance to students, families, and educators to overcome barriers, promote learning, and achieve educational goals. 
  6. Student/Alumni Membership – Individuals who are currently enrolled in school/educational programs.  An individual who was previously employed by a CMHC.
