Public Policy

The Indiana Council promotes national, state and local provider-focused public policies that support a system of well-financed, high quality community-based mental health and addiction treatment centers. As the primary advocate for our members, we leverage our deep relationships with the legislature, various public health associations as well as other interested organizations to offer effective and responsive representation.

On behalf of our members, we participate in the state and federal legislative process by:

  • Continually monitoring mental health legislative activity
  • Promoting member issues and programs aimed at improving community mental health services
  • Forging strategic partnerships with state agencies, consumer and advocate organizations
  • Ensuring community mental health agency representation at legislative hearings, state level planning processes, work groups and standing committees
