Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC)
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) is a specially designated clinic that provides comprehensive mental health and substance use and crisis services. This system is designed to improve access to care, offer a range of services like crisis intervention, outpatient care, care management, and ensure high-quality, person-centered care. The focus is on the undeserved populations such as those with severe mental illness (SMI), substance use disorder (SUD), children with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and individuals with co-occurring disorders. CCBHCs integrate behavioral health with physical health care to address the needs of whole person care. They are community centered care by working closely with local resources, such as hospitals and law enforcements, schools, and social services, to coordinate care and provide holistic support.
Indiana participates in federal programs that support CCBHC either through grants or through the federal demonstration. Currently 8 Community Mental Health Centers are a part of the demonstration and are piloting programs throughout the state of Indiana, with the plan to have all 24 Community Mental Health Centers certified by 2027.
